Long time AOA member John Hie passed away Christmas Eve at 11:30pm. He was with his wife Mary and family.
John was a IHSA Softball and Football official. John frequently filled in on Ed Stanley’s football crew. He was a great umpire, really knowing how to deal with the players in the middle of the field and a good friend with a great Irish sense of humor.
John was inducted into the Chicago 16″ Softball Hall of Fame and the Illinois Football Officials Hall of Fame.
Funeral Tuesday, lying in state at St Alphonsus Liguori, 411 N. Wheeling Road, Prospect Heights from 9:30am to 10:30am. Mass at 10:30am Interment All Saints. cooneyfuneralhome.com
